Spring Cleaning (Matthew Corbitt)

Ok so here is the story! I was talking with a friend this weekend and we began to discuss the effects of weights on the anointing and power of God that is displayed in our lives. During the conversation, she made a mental connection for me that I have yet to make on my own. Don't you just love that? A fresh way to look at an old precept! Amazing!

You and I, we both know, as Apostolics we abstain form a good many things that would not Biblically be considered a sin, rather they would be considered a weight. The conclusion we reached was that the weights, why they may not be “technically” wrong, do a fairly good job at damming up the flow of anointing and hindering our sensitivity to the Spirit of God.

Our vices. Our weights. The things that we do that we keep telling ourselves are not technically wrong, those are the things constantly drip Novocaine onto our spiritual hearts and this begins to desensitize us to the unction and moving of the Holy Spirit.

On the contrary, when we begin to free the weights in our lives, we begin to increase the flow of the Spirit, allowing you an I to be more sensitive to the leading of the Lord and His will, thus allowing us to be more effective in fulfilling His will. We don't become “supercharged”, but rather we begin to become what He wanted us to be the whole time. This mentality of “If God would even like me to do something a little, I'm going to do it!”, is what will create a powerful saint of God.

I know a lot of people who have been taking a fresh look at the spiritual lives as of late, and I bet you have been doing it too. If you are considering doing some spring cleaning on your soul, I encourage you to obviously remove the sins, but to look at some of those things that are mere weights an set them free. Spend a few extra hours in prayer this week, pick up another fast day, pray that God would help you see what secretes Novocaine on your heart.
