No Far Away (Jonathan King)

This post was inspired when I heard the song "No Far Away" by Chris August on the radio. Thanks for a great song Chris!

Have you ever given thought to the omnipresence of God? I mean, we all know that God is EVERYWHERE! We have all heard countless sermons about how the Lord is so powerful that He can be here and there at the same time. The Psalmist David said it pretty well:

Psalms 139:7-8
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

David says that whether in heaven or even in hell, God is still there! Funny how we don’t think about that when we decide to run from the will of God. Just ask Jonah… He decides that the Will of God couldn’t be the best thing for him, so he gets on a ship and heads the opposite direction. Jonah wakes up in the belly of a giant fish, and yep, you guessed it… The Lord was there!

The point is that there is no far away from God. Wherever you go, He is always there. When things are good and you find yourself in heavenly places, you can look around and see the fingerprints of a great God. That’s the easy part; it’s much more difficult to understand that when you find yourself surrounded in your own personal hell on earth, God is still there!

Chris August wrote it well:

When I ran from You
I ran to You
And when I tried to hide
I found You there
When I told You no
You knew right where I’d go
So when I ran from You
I ran to You

There’s no way to get far away from You
There’s no way to get far away from You
There’s nowhere I could go
That You’re not already there
There’s no way to get far away from You
