Qualified for Your Anointing (Aaron Davis)
We all have moments in life where we act like David's brothers, and father. Let's face it, in the face of others we can become easily distracted by what they were, or have been, and question the anointing in their life. We can also do the same in our own lives. I've struggled with this before. How can God use someone like me to accomplish things that someone much more qualified than myself could do, and would be willing to do? David was just a Shepard. He had some character flaws. He was not the typical choice to be a king of a mighty nation. But then again, when is God ever typical?
I have been on the market for a new job for a few months now. I came across some behavioral interview questions and answer examples on YouTube and one stuck out to me. The question was, "I have a list of candidates that really have everything you have to offer. Why should I pick you over them?" The response was simple yet effective: "While the other candidates might be able to do this job, I feel like I can bring a level of passion that will put me in the next level of candidates."
I wonder what David would have said if given the opportunity to "interview" for the task at hand. But then again, in a way, I don't really care. See, God already had in mind who he wanted to lead his nation. He walked past a list of seemingly "qualified" candidates to the most qualified one. Often times we want to beat a dead horse when it comes to how we stack up against others. Matthew 22:14 says "For many are called, but few are chosen." When we cross the gap from called to chosen, and if we have been fully equipped with God's Word, and His Spirit, that makes you qualified. Don't look at your stature or your age and make it a stumbling block. 1 Timothy 4:12 says "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." God has an elite group of ministers, pastors, evangelists, and leaders that he is raising up in this generation. The good news is, your chosen, your filled, and your qualified for your anointing.
