Love, Trust, and Follow- Part I (Cassandra Nader)

Psalm 61:2 “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I”

There are times when we feel we have reached the end, that there is no hope. We hear the thunder, we feel the rain as it pours down. We are soaked to the bone in our circumstance and we have no escape.

We have done all that we can to achieve the things we want, and then we lose it all. Our heart is overwhelmed and all we know to do now, is cry.

But God hears us. When we are in that low place, backed up against a wall, surrounded by darkness as the flood pours in. The water rises higher and higher and we struggle to even breathe. We reach up, we try to escape. We thought we had found a safe and solid place to stand, to make our foundation.

We rely on ourselves to supply our own needs in life. But now the storm has come in and we have no way out. We know we have to reach higher ground, but it is impossible to reach by our own doing.

We cannot stand alone, and any foundation without Jesus will surely crumble. He is the Rock that is higher than I and only He has the power to save us from the flood. He can reach down and lead us to a place of safety.

We have to learn to trust Him, to rely on Him instead of ourselves.
