The Power of Positive Thinking (Lauren Guyot)

The Power of Positive ThinkIs it possible to think Negative thoughts and still be godly? The scripture say’s in Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I believe that its not of God to think negative, its not believing that God is a Provider, a Healer, a Way Maker, a Redeemer, etc… The list goes on forever! As my Pastor confirmed this blog to me through his previous Wednesday night class, I was reminded constantly through the Word of God why we need to overcome fear, doubt, and worry. As my pastor said “God will always provide in difficult times”, but yet we seem to always focus on the negative side and worry how will your finances be provided, or you doubt God can’t make his promise in your timing, that’s not in “His timing”.

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

He will supply your needs, but not always your wants.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

God will never put on you more than he knows you can bear, but yet when we think negative it can cause our bodies to be overwhelmed by all the pressure we put on ourselves.

In researching negative thinking, I came across a website which mentioned “negative thinking cripples the human spirit”. So if the negative thinking “cripples the human spirit”, how much more as Apostolic having the Power of the Holy Ghost within us crippling the Spirit that is within us. The website went on to say “negative people not only harm themselves; they harm the world. They cease to make a contribution to it. Instead of helping, they spread gloom and misery everywhere. If they insist on infecting others, why not infect them with laughter? If they must carry something contagious, why not carry a smile?”

As Apostolic I first off do not want to harm myself in any form, the word say’s 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? I do not want to “cripple” the Holy Ghost that lies within me. Second if I am harming myself but also harming others by my negative, depressing, low self-esteem, whatever is attached to the bad thinking and its rubbing off on other people, especially people who I am trying to be a “Godly” witness to, well you will never win someone like that. We should always wear the Joy of the Lord on our face. Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

So be an infector of positive thinking, if there is a situation you are in, step back and look at the overall picture before you automatically assume a negative thought. “Our thoughts determine our speech, attitude and eventually our attitude determines our blessing from God, if we do not keep our thoughts lined up with the word of God, Satan will start controlling your thoughts, speech and eventually your life.

Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

Remember that what you think determines the direction of your life. Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee. The Hebrew says The heart is the emotional center, so what you allow in your heart so shall you think, be and act upon.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
